10 Fun Spring Activities to Try in 2022

Can you believe it’s already May? If you’re like us, then you’re enjoying the warmer weather and taking advantage of being outside more. We came up with 10 fun activities to make your spring unforgettable. What’s your favorite spring activity? Let us know in the comments.

1. Visit a Farmer’s Market

We love when local farmer’s markets open up. Neither of us has a green thumb, so we enjoy going out and getting fresh produce when we can. A lot of farmer’s markets also have food trucks and sell other items, such as skincare and soap. Hopefully you’ll find something for everyone.

2. Have a Picnic

Take advantage of a warm day and pack yourself something delicious. It can be simple or complex as you want. Just find a local park, a cute blanket and basket to hold everything you need.

3. Attend a Baseball Game

Take me out to the ball game! Seriously, we’re Red Sox super fans. When baseball season starts, you can find us searching for tickets to a game. Enjoy yummy snacks and cheer on your favorite team!

4. Bake a Delicious Treat

With all the fresh produce, it’s perfect timing for baking a treat. This time of year, we crave lemon bars and other fruity sweets. If that’s not your style, you can always buy yourself a treat at a local bakery or grocery store. We won’t tell anyone that it isn’t homemade.

5. Go on a Hike

Get away from the city and enjoy nature. There are some great spots outside both the DC and Boston areas, including Great Falls and the White Mountains. It doesn’t matter if you prefer a brisk walk or a steep climb, getting outside is bound to boost your mood.

6. Spring Clean

We know, this might not be the most exciting item on the list. But here us out. Decluttering can bring you peace of mind. Donate what you don’t use anymore and free up some space for the new. You’ll enjoy a cleaner home to relax in after.

7. Plan a Weekend Away

If you have the time, a weekend of fun is always a great idea. Plan out something where you can relax, rejuvenate and don’t feel rushed. Some ideas we have are going to the beach before tourist season begins, road trip to city within a few hours from you or get your friends together for an adventure. Whether you crave a chill quiet evening or a night on the town, we all deserve a change of scenery.

8. Attend a Local Festival

Festivals are big in the springtime. In the DC area, there’s the National Cherry Blossom Festival and Passport DC. Music festivals are also popular this time of year. Since most are outside, it’s the right time to get out the sunscreen, sunglasses and warm-weather outfits.

9. Have Happy Hour at a Rooftop Bar

An easy thing to do is find a local happy hour after work. You deserve it! Enjoy a great view and a yummy drink while you meet with friends, coworkers or a significant other. We all need to treat ourselves during the work week too.

10. Drive to a Local Winery

As wineries start to offer outdoor seating again, it’s time to find one and enjoy a weekend day. Some of the best ones also have charcuterie offerings as well. Wineries are good options for celebrations, including college graduations, anniversaries and bachelorette parties. If you’re going with a big group, even better. Hopefully the wine selections will please even your pickiest guests.

  2. I can’t believe it’s already May either; this year needs to slow down. While I am not a complete fan of the warmer weather, I do like all the activities that happen at this time of year.

Visiting a farmer’s market is such a good idea; I always forget we have one close by, but it would be good to go to one. I actually like having a Spring Clean, as it is refreshing and great to donate items that don’t see the light of day anymore. I went to a local food festival recently, and it was amazing! Great artisan stalls, food, and entertainment, but it was warmer than expected, so we got a bit sunburnt. 😅

Thank you for sharing this list of spring activities! I need to go to a farmer’s market, have a picnic and check out the local rooftop bars now. 😊

  3. These are great suggestions and I definitely want to have a picnic again since the last time I went on one was last fall.
I also went to Copenhagen for a weekend away with my partner, which was really nice and we’ve been to the flea market and also the animal show which are big local events here.

  4. It’s been a really long time since I’ve been to a farmer’s market, and I live in London! That is a really good tip – even in the middle of summer, I think I can find some good ones around town. And then why not have a picnic with the food I’ve bought there? That’s such a cool tip, thank you!
